Questions people ask
Is ChainFX really free?+
Yes — free for everyone. No Pro tier, no locked features, no sign-up required. If you click one of our 'Send via' buttons and sign up with a provider, they pay us a referral — that's our only revenue.
Where do the exchange rates come from?+
Live mid-market rates from ExchangeRate-API, aggregated across central banks and commercial feeds. Source and fetch time are always shown above the chain. Rates are cached for 1 hour and you can refresh manually anytime.
Why does my Payoneer rate look different from yours?+
Some providers (Payoneer, PayPal, banks) quote a single all-in rate with their spread already baked in. Tick 'Use the rate my provider is quoting' on the leg and paste what you see — ChainFX will back-calculate the true spread against mid-market.
Are provider fees exact?+
No — they're approximate averages. Real fees vary by corridor, amount, payment method, promo status, and day. Always confirm the exact quote on the provider's own page before sending. Use 'quoted rate' for precision.
What's the 'receive in bank' option?+
Many receiving banks charge an incoming-wire fee or apply their own FX markup when money lands. Toggle 'Receive into bank account' and set the percentage your bank takes — it's deducted on top of the provider fee, so you see what really reaches the account.
Can I save a chain for later?+
Every chain already lives in its URL — bookmark the page or save the link. Proper saved-chain profiles with names are coming in the next release.
